My checking out story...

As we travel the world and we know it simply gets smaller...this we are often reminded of, and for me already I have had a few very recent reminders. Meeting people from close to home while you are far from home is the best example.

So while waiting in the hotel lobby for my shared shuttle to the Civitavecchia port, I meet a couple who is also waiting for a shuttle and we strike up a conversation and compare Rome trip notes. This couple I found out livs in Edmonton, my home town, and their family was raised in the same neighborhood, they know the same business people I do and she worked in AB health care until retirement and knows plenty about senior health care, which is a very keen topic of interest to me, so we exchange email contact info and promise to stay in touch.

Moments later their shuttle arrives and I assume they are heading to the airport, however they are going on a cruise also? Now what are the odds...of course they were heading to board the exact ship for the same 11 day Mediterranean cruise as me and so, we rather promised to share dinner together on board and life is so cool sometimes and it sure made me smile when you consider the incredible timing and possibilities of such a happenstance meeting? :-)
